What Sets Our Approach Apart

Six aspects that distinguish working with Payung Adil from navigating pension matters without professional support.

Pension-Specific Focus

We work exclusively on pension matters. This means our knowledge of EPF, public sector pension schemes, and relevant legislation is current and deep — not spread thin across multiple areas of law.

Plain-Language Explanation

We do not use legal jargon when straightforward language serves better. After each session, you receive a written summary of what was discussed so you can review it at home.

Stated Fees, No Additions

Fees are fixed and communicated before any work begins. RM 260 for a review session, RM 700 for claim support, RM 1,520 for complete protection. Nothing is added without discussion.

Regular Progress Reports

You are kept informed throughout. We contact clients with updates at agreed intervals — you do not need to chase us for news on where your matter stands.

Based in Kuching

Our team is physically present in Sarawak and understands the local administrative environment. Face-to-face meetings at our Jalan Padungan office are straightforward to arrange.

No Pressure to Proceed

After a review session, you receive your written summary and can take as much time as you need to decide whether to proceed further. There is no obligation attached to the initial consultation.

Specialist Knowledge of Malaysian Pension Law

The team at Payung Adil has worked specifically on pension-related legal matters for over a decade. This focus means our advisers are familiar with the practical workings of EPF, SOCSO, and the various public service pension frameworks that apply in Sarawak. We understand how delays arise, where disputes commonly occur, and what evidence tends to carry weight in appeal processes.

  • Familiarity with EPF Act, Pensions Act, and LTAT provisions
  • Experience with Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam processes
  • Understanding of Sarawak State Service pension entitlements

"Pension legislation in Malaysia has several layers, and the interaction between federal and state provisions is particularly relevant in Sarawak."

— Ahmad Razif bin Sulaiman, Senior Legal Adviser

Client Experience

From the first call to the close of a matter, we prioritise clarity and responsiveness. Appointments are available on weekdays and Saturday mornings, and we can accommodate clients who prefer telephone consultations where travel is difficult.

Service That Respects Your Time and Circumstances

Pension concerns often arise at sensitive points in a person's life — approaching retirement, after the death of a spouse, or during a period of financial uncertainty. We are mindful of this and approach each client with patience and discretion.

  • Appointments at times that suit you, including Saturdays
  • Telephone consultations available
  • Written summaries after each session

Transparent Pricing with No Hidden Costs

Legal fees are often a source of anxiety. At Payung Adil, the cost of each service is stated clearly from the outset. There are no hourly rates that accumulate unexpectedly, no disbursements added without notice, and no ambiguity about what is included.

  • Pension Understanding Session: RM 260 — flat rate
  • Claim and Appeal Support: RM 700 — all correspondence included
  • Complete Protection Package: RM 1,520 — includes annual review

Payment Terms

Payment terms are discussed at engagement. For the Complete Protection Package, instalment arrangements may be considered. All fees are set out in the written engagement letter before any work commences.

Distinctive Features

What You Will Not Find Elsewhere

Written Summary After Every Session

At the conclusion of each Pension Understanding Session, we prepare and send a written summary of everything discussed. This gives you a clear reference document and ensures nothing important is forgotten or misremembered.

Family Inclusion with Your Consent

Under the Complete Protection Package, we can bring family members into relevant discussions about nominee arrangements. You decide who is involved and to what extent — this is your pension and your decision.

Annual Provision Reviews

The Complete Protection Package includes an annual review to check that your arrangements remain appropriate as circumstances change. Most legal services close a file once a matter concludes — we stay in contact.

Pre-Meeting Document Checklist

We send clients a plain-language checklist of documents to bring before their first appointment. Incomplete records are accepted without difficulty — we use what is available and advise on what else may help.
